As another successful year of SPE-MC collaboration draws to an end, and my time as Section Chair with it, I'd like to thank the membership for putting up with me for four years. I'd also like to give a special thank you to the current officers, directors, and subcommittee chairs for volunteering time out of their busy schedules to lead the Mid-Continent Section. Dwight Rychel deserves a very special thank you for his
efforts as director of the 17th SPE Improved Oil Recovery Symposium. He could probably also use a pat on the back (and a beer or two) for guiding us through to such a successful event given all the troubles the volcano presented.

Recall that ballots for this year's officer election have been mailed out. Please make the effort to fill out the ballot and mail it back in. Moreover, I'd like to encourage all of you to get involved with the MC Section. I've found that my time spent volunteering to the section has been very rewarding and enlightening. And I know most of my predecessors have felt the same way.

• The Mid Continent Section is continuing is strong commitment to scholarship donations for the 2010 - 2011 school year. If you know of a graduation high school senior or undergraduate student majoring in the sciences, please let us know. Information can be found on our website, www.spemc.org.

Next year, I look forward to falling back to the ranks of the general membership to enjoy what promises to be another great year under the leadership of Earl Logan.
